EP Standard

How Can Executive Protection Standards Help The Industry

Enhanced Professionalism and Credibility
A national standard provides a common benchmark for best practices, procedures, and ethical conduct. This helps to elevate the entire industry by defining what constitutes quality and competence, which in turn boosts credibility among clients, law enforcement, and the public. Adherence to a recognized standard offers a competitive advantage for individuals and firms who meet the criteria.

Risk Mitigation and Accountability
A standard provides clear guidelines for risk assessment, threat mitigation, and operational planning. By following these established procedures, practitioners can reduce risks and liabilities for both themselves and their clients. If a security recommendation based on a standard is denied by a client and an incident occurs, the practitioner has a verifiable basis for their professional advice. It also creates a framework for accountability, making it easier to hold individuals or organizations responsible for poor performance or negligence.

Improved Training and Development
A standard provides a verified, peer-reviewed foundation of knowledge that can be used to create comprehensive training programs. This ensures that practitioners receive consistent, high-quality education and that training schools cover essential topics. The standard also serves as a guide for ongoing professional development, helping practitioners stay current with evolving threats and best practices.

Increased Client Confidence
Clients, who may not be experts in executive protection, can feel more confident when selecting a provider who adheres to an ANSI standard. The standard gives them a clear way to verify that a professional or firm has met a recognized level of competence and demonstrates a commitment to quality and safety.

The Board of Executive Protection Professionals is an ANSI Accredited Standards Developer who is managing body for this Executive Protection Standard development process.
