Testing & Accreditation

The Board of Executive Protection Professionals (BEPP) has partnered with Prometric to develop the first-of-its-kind Board Certification exam for Executive Protection Operations.

 

The objective of the initiative is to create a nationally recognized certification for executive protection.  Passing this exam will award the individual the accreditation of being a Board "Certified Executive Security Operations Professional" (CESOP):

Unlike a generic, non-validated certificate of attendance or completion, this certification is specific. The test is designed to evaluate and analyze a person's knowledge, skills, and abilities related to Executive Protection and Personal Security Management.

The Certification Accreditation will not be valid in perpetuity; rather, it will be valid for three (3) years at a time.  Those who wish to maintain their certification must submit documentation of seventy-five (75) Continuing Education Credits (CEC) during those three (three) years.

Those CEC’s consist of industry-specific professional development activities such as: 

  • Attending industry-related conferences

  • Attending industry-related workshops

  • Attending industry-related training or classes

  • Authoring book published books and or articles

  • Instructing/teaching

If an individual meets the 75 (seventy-five) CEC requirement by the anniversary of their certification issue date, the Board Certification Accreditation will renew for another 3 (three) years.   

Application Requirements 

Candidates interested in certification need to apply and submit documentation demonstrating that they meet all the minimum requirements.

Those minimum requirements would include:

  • 5 Years verifiable security experience.

  • Not have been convicted of any felony or any crime which would have a negative reflection on the security industry.

  • Completion of a verifiable handgun course.

  • Completion of a verifiable vehicle dynamics course.

  • Completion of a CPR/First Aid course (within the last two years).

 

After the Board approves the application, the applicant will schedule their examination, consisting of multiple-choice questions in specific domains covering over twenty (20) different areas of knowledge that will be administered by a designated third-party professional proctor.
